Keep Watch Vol. XXX: Toddla T

Both Sheffield producer/dj Toddla T and the Keep Watch Mix series from NYC clothing label Mishka should be well known for all you avid Discobelle readers. On this mix we get Toddla T in top form, genre hopping with ease from moombahton to dancehall and tropical bass, this mix is a true partystarter.

Toddla T (ft. Wayne Marshall & Skream) – Streets So Warm (video)

Toddla T with a big tune off his second album “Watch Me Dance”.

Toddla T Feat. Roots Manuva – Watch Me Dance

Here, Toddla T does the next-to-impossible, and gives us a Roots Manuva collaboration that can actually be described as a full blown summer dance party affair.

It’s a stark contrast to Manuva’s paranoia-laden previous output like “Awfully Deep”, which sounds more like it was recorded while he was barricaded in a dark room performing a homemade exorcism. But all things considered, Watch Me Dance feels nothin’ but natural, and its laid back funkiness suits Manuva’s delivery quite well. Hooray for getting rid of your ghosts!

Watch Me Dance drops August 1st.

Toddla T (ft. Wayne Marshall) – Sky Surfing

Sheffield madman producer Toddla T gets together with Jamaican star vocalist Wayne Marshall for the track “Sky Surfing” and the pair did this crazy green screen video. To top it all of, French/Argentinean producer Douster gives us some of his groovy tropical cumbia magic with his remix.

No More (remix EP)

Outside dancehall, UK’s finest dancehall label Suncycle are in big demand so far as collaborations go. They have recorded a single with Texas for their album on Mercury Records. Suncycle artists are featured heavily on Sunship’s album on Go Beat/Universal. Now Suncycle teams up with Jamaican dancehall star Mavado and remixes are provided by the some of dance music’s biggest producers, Redlight along with BBC Radio 1 DJ/Fabric resident Toddla T combine their talents to cook up a banging remix. UK charttopper Bless Beats adds his signature electro sound with a funky twist and Ill Blu, the UK funky live Best Producer award winners, do what they do best. With an ever-increasing fan base and the market crying out for dancehall fusion, Suncycle are the sound of now. Heavy airplay is guaranteed by Mista Jam of BBC Radio 1 and DJ Quincy of Choice FM.

The new remix EP is out as an iTunes exclusive today. Get it here.

Guido

Our friends down in Barcelona, the Plat Du Jour crew, tipped us off about this.

Guido is a young producer from Bristol who just released a new single called “Beautiful Complication/Araya” featuring lovely vocals from Aarya on Punch Drunk Records. The single has already received play from Joker, Oneman, Pinch, Kode 9, Mary Anne Hobbs, Toddla T, Sinden, Rob Da Bank, Appleblim and many more that are intrigued by Guidos suspenseful and atmospheric brand of dubstep that fits superbly with this darker time of the year. Peep the videos for the single below and then hit up your favorite retailer for a physical copy.

Let Me Back

Zarif is a UK singer/songwriter that’s making a splash at the moment. Her first single “Let Me Back” has just hit the streets and it comes backed with a remix package from some top producers. Toddla T gives us his special Sheffield ragga/electro/grime take but that remix can be found over at Molasuperpoco, we on the other hand got the bouncy housed up ditty of a remix from Paul Jackson (those horns pumping in the background are pretty sweet) which has already seen play from Pete Tong. (Thanks to James from We Are Brilliantly Different)
