Sharkslayer – Reefer Shark (Club Mix)

Top Billin’s dancefloor wizards Sharkslayer have been with us for years now, putting out a steady stream of polished productions which have resonated with everyone from Malente to Kissy Sellout and from Sinden to Fake Blood to the people screaming and waving their hands on dancefloors ‘cross the nation.

So it’s a welcome surprise to see fourteen tracks from the massive back catalogue put together in the “Easy Prey” package, which has a lot of varied highlights. Maybe it’s the submerged bubbling bass of Henrik Schwartz sampling track “Who Is He”, or maybe the subtle-as-a-jackhammer-to-the-skull force of Sharkslayer’s “Cold As Ice” track, which introduces a new generation to Foreigner reimagined as a pixelated over the top club ballad anthem.

In addition to grabbing the release on either Beatport, we’ve got an exclusive from yet another EP by Top Billin, this one comprised of new material from Sharkslayer which is more chaotic than a great white in a wave pool.

Sharkslayer – Reefer Shark (Club Mix)

Pick up the whole release of “Reefer Shark” from Top Billin’s bandcamp page, and revisit the Easy Prey compilation for some great moments in bass heavy twisted house music.

Top Billin For Japan

Our extended family in Finnish crew Top Billin are doing a compilation (that features Club Cheval, Top Billin, Spoek Mathambo, Wool, Lars Moston, Ben Mono etc.) as a fundraiser for those affected by the catastrophe in Japan. Please read below and then buy the compilation, every donation helps.

“OK, you’ve already been to few dance events to raise money Japan and have most likely donated money already, but read this and get your dose of new music while getting a change to help for a small amount (1€ even). Things move quickly in today’s world but the need for help isn’t going away in a couple of weeks. We want to do our part too. So here’s what’s up:

A while a go we had an opportunity to design a compilation exclusively for the Japanese market, that was supposed to come out in April this year. The idea was to make a compilation that would reflect us in 2011, including bits from our back catalogue as well as some unreleased exclusive gems. Our friend Nakura from Tokyo was doing his job as the project manager for this and his friend and our buddy, a DJ and producer named Eccy (awesome music btw) was also taking part in this project. But as we all know Japan was hit with the most horrific disaster in their history, tearing down almost the whole country, leaving thousands dead and even more injured, homeless or without even food. We sat in studio, watching the devastation on TV and wondered what could we do, we have friends there. On that very moment it was clear that we should use this compilation that was designed for Japan, to help Japan.

So now we’re giving it for you in exchange of small (or bigger, your choice) donation that will go directly to Red Cross Japan. We won’t take a penny, 100% goes directly to help the people in need in Japan. Why the Red Cross? Because with them you know money will go to those really in need. If Japan has enough money, then they will help people in Libya, so your money is never lost. We read somewhere some bitter man’s comment that he won’t donate to Japan as their GDP (gross domestic product) is 33.100$ per person, that Japan does not need money. That’s bullshit, the devastation is so big, it will take Japan years to recover. So join us, buy this compilation for as low as 1€ if you’re really broke, or if you got a paying job, maybe pay a bit more. You get dope tunes in exchange. We respect you for your willingness to help. Thank you, arigatou gozaimasu, kiitos.

Big thanks to all the artists involved and Nakura, Eccy, stay strong!”

Tracklist for the compilation + details on how to contribute in other ways can be found after the jump.

The Criime – Discobelle Mixtape

Be(ne)lux duo The Criime just released their debut EP “Fidji” on the ever so productive Finnish label Top Billin, filled with techhouse that captures the essence of a minimalistic, percussion based tropical dancefloor. The boys just finished this exclusive mixtape for us in Discobelle that continues where the release finished – warm and deep techhouse to make you groove and break a sweat – and they even threw in a bonus track in the form of a cheeky MJ bootleg.

Femme En Fourrure – Bronco (video)

If someone asked me “hey, what’s the new Femme En Fourrure video about?” I would probably say:

“Stealing bikes, punching DJs, salad, the confederate flag, masturbating to yourself in the mirror, nosebleeds in a club, weird gold painted dudes, the phrase “where my stallions at”, littering, throwing drinks on people who make requests at the bar, and probably a lot more creepy sexual subtext that I haven’t quite gleamed yet.”

That being said, it’s amazing. Out soon on Top Billin. Possibly NSFW (but really, all videos are depending on whether your workplace allows you to watch YouTube at work).

FEX FELLINI – NEW ORLEANS

Fex Fellini brings a new EP on his Globelle imprint, bringing together three sounds from localized dance music centers of the world. The guitar tinged techy romper “New Orleans” matches the sweaty, gasping-for-breath feeling of “Mumbai” in terms of energy, but “Barcelona” gets a bit deeper and weirder, with a submerged sonar frequency that makes the rusty horns sounding off underneath. It’s no surprise that it’s already garnered big feedback from folks like Claude Von Stroke, Zombie Nation, Round Table Knights and more.

Listen to a sampler of the EP here, and then also observe this very fresh Top Billin mix Fex recently dropped on the world, which features some serious heat from LOL Boys, Mercury, Joyce Muniz & Luca Lozano.

BONUS:

Fex did us the honor of sharing a radio edit of “New Orleans” not available to buy anywhere for your jacking house listening pleasure.

Nike Sportswear presents American Made which is a four part documentary series starring Swedish NBA player Jonas Jerebko along with one of Sweden’s most internationally known urban music artists Adam Tensta. This is a film about two young Swedes who are pushing their game to a new level. The documentary also features appearances from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Zetterberg, Obie Trice, Ben Wallace, Niklas Lidström and Juan Atkins. The episodes will go live at the Nike Sportswear Sweden Facebook page on the following dates:

26th January – Trailer
31st February – Episode 1
8th February – Episode 2
10th February – Episode 3
15th February – Episode 4

As part of American Made there will also be a basketball tournament hosted by Jonas Jerebko & Adam Tensta on February 18th, 6pm at Munchenbryggeriet in Stockholm. The event sees four teams Cali Crew, Sneakersnstuff, Tres Bién Shop and Shelta Basket pitch both a men and women’s 3-aside team to battle it out on the court to win the chance to travel to Detroit and see Jonas in action. Throughout the evening there will also be live sets and DJ sets from Adam Tensta, Gnucci Banana, Mashup International and DJ Taro & High Life.

We’ve got the latest track from Adam Tensta (who is set to release his sophomore album “Scared Of The Dark” on April 11th, he is also working with Top Billin & DJA on some other exclusives. Stay tuned!) in order to push this extravaganza and it’s an official edit of the recent single “Balloons” (released by our good friends in Finnish premier crew Top Billin) from L.A based dj/producer Them Jeans.
