Mixin’ It Up: Supra 1

Krakow duo Supra 1 are the newest members of the menacing bass phenomena known as NYC label Trouble & Bass. Here they are with a huge latest edition of our Mixin’ It Up series, this will seriously put a dent in your weekend and many more weekends to follow. Supra1 – Kowloon / Unreleased, forthcoming Trouble & Bass

Kowloon was a tiny Chinese enclave that was located in the middle of British Hong Kong for decades. Originally a military fort, it became a very dense urban settlement, until it was torn down in 1993. The city was notorious for its excess of brothels, casinos, opium dens, cocaine parlours, food courts serving dog meat, and secret factories. Personally, one of our favourite spots in Hong Kong.

Ridiculous tune. First time I heard it was on a beach, chatting with a beautiful girl, sipping on drinks, watching the sunset. Our clothes were all wet, it was freezing.

Soulful is the word. We love chicago house influenced diva type of vocals and melodies and so decided to do a track that takes that and mixes it with T&B’s hit’em, smash’em tear’em crash’em attitude.

When we got the parts to do the Devils Eyes remix and heard the vocal track it was shivers down the spine. It was clear we needed to do a tune that would create space for the vocals and put it in the limelight.

The French maestro Teki Latex just sent us a track from the upcoming release on his fine imprint Sound Pellegrino. You’ve all heard of Mikix The Cat which is the more in your face alter ego of Momma’s Boy AKA Mike Gnacadja. Now we got the flip side track “Give It Up” from his new EP which is one fine piece of music and it will no doubt get tons of plays. Here’s the lodown courtesy of Teki:

“…While unleashing his hard bass-driven rave bursts as Mikix for Luca’s label Trouble & Bass, Mike kept his lighter, more playful side away from the public ear, but not from the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team’s hard drives. Influenced by the sparse sounds of the house music of Now, as well as a rightful return to the African rythms of his Beninese roots, channelled by his move from Paris to Berlin, a new face of Mike Gnacadja was born, we decided to name it Momma’s Boy (after the restaurant in Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Orgasmic and I had an argument about whether “Give It Up” should be the A-side or not, but things like that don’t really matter anymore with digital releases, do they? Anyway I believe “Give It Up” is the hit of the EP. Banging yet subtle, evil yet pointing towards the direction of “a fun jam”, this track is like a sprinkle of hagelslag on an already delicious piece of toast in the middle of a well-furnished musical Dutch breakfast.

They happen to be one of our favorite dj crews and now they’re about to follow in our footsteps with the latest edition of the Scion compilation CD series. Disappear

The Trouble & Bass crew out of NYC seem hellbent on world domination, they’ve taken their bass heavy induced music across the world and everywhere they go they turn party crowds into devout bass believers.

Star Eyes has been dj’ing since the age of 15 and now it’s time for her to drop her first EP “Disappear” which is filled with what should be called “haunted house”. The title track is produced with Drop The Lime and it’s a raved up acid bass monster with mind boggling backwards vocals whereas this remix by Paris own Trouble & Bass bandit Mikix The Cat shows us what happens when you incorporate some of that French flavoured house.
