UK Garage is alive and well, you just need to know where to find it. Formula Records continue to honour some of the nation’s more sacred club sounds on a regular basis, updating our record boxes this month with F2: Vol 1. Among its fine cuts, MOAD’s ‘Feels So’ gleams with two step swagger and luscious vocal licks to bring a sense of pride back into the globetrotting sound. You can now stop pretending that Craig David album was a total cop-out and catch the genre’s next shining star.

The UK has had plenty of excuses to let out a little pent up anger and anguish of late. This is reflecting seamlessly in the Grime scene at present, giving the likes of rising prospect Tyzz plenty of ammunition for fierce lyrical content. The fresh-faced South Londoner brings attitude and distinct flow to the Ghost-produced ‘Stop,’ showing that there really is no stopping the next generation of Grime prospects leaping from the Capital at present.

London mover and shaker, Anna Wall drops in for the latest installment of our exclusive mix series and Vol. 9 in her “The Bricks That Built My House” tapes. At only 27, Wall is a true jack-of-all-trades and divides her time amongst the studio producing and remixing, at the club presenting, promoting and performing, hosting radio shows and scouting the latest talent as an A&R rep. The Needwant affiliate deftly displays her talents of selection and mixing as she takes us through a strong collection of heavy grooves from today and yesterday with tunes from the likes of Tornado Wallace, Jimpster and Art Of Tones.

Up and coming, UK house producer, Ben Gomori has been all over my radar this year with his fantastic series of free edits that found homes at sites such as House Of Disco, Let’s Play House NYC and right here at Discobelle.net!

Continuing the free vibes, Ben’s latest, gratis offering comes in the form of the appreciatively titled, ‘Thank You For Dancing’ and is a housed up rendition of some classic Mary J. Bubbly bass, stabby chords and chunky beats… one for the steppers, for sure!

Vulture Music stalwart, Xander Milne has been a bit quite on the Western front here for the last couple months… thankfully he’s re-emerged with this lovely, double a-side featuring the vocal talents of Kristy Marie. The pair craft some beautifully written pop tracks that just happen to stand confidently in the realm of quality, crossover club music (think Gorgon City).

‘So True’ is as warm as it is frigid with cascading piano stabs and melodic arpeggios while Marie demonstrates her fantastic range and lamenting lyrics. ‘Stay Heavy’ brings the mood deeper, drenched in a bucket load of swagger and a vibe that would make Crystal Waters’ proud. It’s hypnotic, M1 bassline and 909 snare rolls display the pair’s influences proudly on it’s sleeve… and who could blame them? I’m sure your dancefloor won’t!

Brighton, UK based producer, Peter O drops a tasty four-tracker on Nordic Trax, brilliantly showcasing his classic house pedigree. The titular track, ‘Colours’ opens the EP with a sneaky bass-line and dubby percussion while ‘Keep It Up’ follows a similar formula, its bouncier attitude makes it perfect for the steppers. Enlisting the vocal talents of J-Felix, ‘Touch’ comes straight out of left-field with it’s decidedly disco leanings, a real winner right here. Closing tune, ‘Tea Time’ wraps things up nicely in a very ‘full circle’ manner as filtered chord stabs punctuate bubbly synth lines and tinkling piano riffs.

A bit late to the game on this one, but good music never has an expiration date. Enter UK house duo, Siente. They’ve been on may radar for a moment now with a string of high quality tunes and a couple free downloads, just like this one here. ‘I Remember’ is a silky-smooth, R&B flavored house joint with lots of dubby samples and goregeousness by the spoonful. Show the lads some love and cop it at their Facebook page.
