We got mail

This should have been up last week but Dreamhost kept me from posting it but here it is:

YO! This is VonMarxen back with my second week of WE GOT MAIL. Once again, a bunch of great stuff came through the mailbox, but first I’m gonna shove some of my crap at ya. I threw together a mix a while ago, it’s pretty energetic. I think you actually burn several hundred calories just sitting and listening to it.

Moving on to stuff that is actually GOOD now, James Pants is dropping his debut album “Welcome” on May 27th, till then he is cranking out a remix a week to set the mood. He sent over a really chill mix of Too $horts “I Ain’t Trippin”, this is perfect to throw on and chill on the warming spring nights.

The Dudes from streetparty.tv down in Melbourne asked if we were interested in posting their STREETPARTY mix. After listening to it I responded YES. This mix is produced by CLIFFORD LIDDEL and compiled by DJS STREETPARTY, TRANTERCO, OOH EE, SOCCER MUMS, SWEET HEARTS, BAD TEETH , Yacht CLUB.

American Boy- LAZRtag Remix (direct link)

DJ White Mike out of San Fran wins “best dj name of the day” and he also put together a really soulful mix. A little less for the dance floor and a little more for the kick it in the corner of the dark bar, but dope nonetheless.

Dj White Mike-Good Fun Mix (direct link)

Alan Astor from the action packed US State of Delaware sent over this pretty dope mix of “Just Fine” by Mary J Blige. He put together a really clean remix and I feel his pain of being from such a crappy place!

Mary J Blige – Just Fine (Alan Astor Remix) 320k (direct link)

I’m gonna wrap up today with a creepy remix of The Raveonettes “Aly Walk With Me.” I did a show with these guys in Iowa and they can agree it’s almost as bad as Delaware.

This remix was done by Obi Blanche and he has a new record out on New Judas records on May 24th called “RagTag Vagabonds”

We got mail (week 13)

Another week of a full inbox and fun! This is rick re:action once again. I hope you enjoy my second of three weeks here picking through the Discobelle flood of mail:

Man, I wish I had a copy of “The Manual.” Thankfully with tracks like this first one I can reach some understanding of it without actually having it in front of me. B.G. The Prince Of Rap aka Bernard Greene’s “This Beat Is Hot” remixed by Toronto’s DJ Matt Medley (The man behind Remix This!). A little somethin’ somethin’ for all you old school b-boys & b-girls out there.

This Beat is Hot (DJ Medley Flash House Remix) (direct link)

And the video for the original for those feeling nostalgic

Next Massive Face comes with a nice remix including some Splack Pack on there (hard to refute the use of that):

Solid Groove Sinden – Red Hot Face Remix (zShare)

While we’re jamming on that party vibe, here is a remix by DJ Jesse Jamz:

Ocelot – Our Time (Jesse Jamz Fuck U mix) (zShare)

Switchin’ it up a little, a nice minimal/tech house mix comes our way from Roy Monster:

Omnikrom (Le Matos remix)

Le Matos were featured in one of our We Got Mail editions a few months ago and they got some good response. The first official remix by Le Matos popped up in our mailbox yesterday. They’ve remixed the track “Prends Une Photo Avec Moi” from fellow Montrealians in rap group Omnikrom (famous for their ode to Quebecois fast food “Danse La Poutine”). Le Matos turns the track into some synthy futuristic electro/hip hop which is undeniably perfect for the club.

We Got Mail week 12

Hey Discobelle readers – this is rick re:action from Redscroll Records in Wallingford, CT, USA. I’ve been a loyal reader of Discobelle for quite a while and an electronic music fan for much longer. I’ve done stints as Music Director and Program Director at a few local college stations (currently at WESU). I hope you enjoy my picks for you. It’s been a pleasure going through the incredible amount of tracks that have come through.

First up, Jupiters Heroes with what they self-describe (quite accurately) as “neo italo cosmic techno”:

JUPITERS HEROES – COMMODORE (zShare)

JUPITERS HEROES – COMMODORE (Charlie Fanclub remix) (zShare)

Burning up the clubs in the great white north (namely, Montreal and Toronto) comes a mix by Mofomatronix:

Mofomatronix Mixtape + Turbo Crunk (zshare)

This next mix was a promotional mix for an event (with Shir Khan, Juiceboxxx, Dre Skull, Acid Girls, Fluokids, Krames, Egyptrixx, my!gay!husband!, DJ Orion, Iggy baby + Culnsweet djs) that happened this past weekend at SXSW. From this mix I can only assume it was a blast:

Culnsweet Radio vol. 2 (zShare)

And finally nice and thick cut up house jam comes by way of Project Cyborg:

Project Cyborg – Angerland 3000 (zShare)

That was the first week of rick re:action’s We Got Mail. He will be back next week for another edition.
